La Toute Multiple is Ensemble LIKΣN’s latest project, developed through a collaborative research process with the ensemble’s musicians and composed by composer and improviser Timothée Quost.
La Toute Multiple is inspired by the dark, raw and erotic universe of Jean Genet's novel Notre dame des fleurs, which emerged after a year of experimentation. The amplification system used allows for the deployment of a sonic vocabulary linking the wild to the intimate. Breath, feedback, mouth percussion, wet textures & saturation constitute the main material of this musical piece.
At the end of the research period, Timothée Quost seized this new material to compose the piece, then the score was quickly integrated by the group in order to perform it fully on stage, in a clear gesture.
La Toute Multiple by Ensemble LIKΣN has been performed at the Météo Festival (2021), the Aux Armes Contemporains Festival at La Scala Paris (2021), À l'Improviste, Anne Montaron’s programme on France Musique (2022), the Bruismes Festival in Poitiers (2022), the What’s New series at La Maison de la Musique de Nanterre, the d’Aujourd’hui à Demain Festival in Cluny (2023), the DOC in Saint-Germain-d’Ectot, the Fragment(s) Festival in Metz, the Divagations Festival in Brussels, the Conservatoire of Gennevilliers, AJMI in Avignon, and the Scène nationale de Chambéry-Savoie.
